In which folder can I find screenshots on Steam?
Knowing the path to the game or where the screenshots are located in steam is very important for any gamer. With this information, you can easily copy, move or delete files if necessary, and not spend a lot of time trying to figure out where the treasured data is. First of all, remember whether you specified a new location for saving screenshots in Steam or left it standard. If the path to the files did not change, then:

The numerical value in the name of the folder located after userdata is the identifier number of your PC; it contains folders with numbers in the name, each such folder corresponds to one of the games in your Steam account.

How to change the screenshot button on Steam
If the F12 key is somehow used in the game, every time you press it you will have a screenshot taken, which is very inconvenient. We advise you to reassign the keys either in the game itself or in Steam. To do this you need:
- Launch the Steam client;
- Click on the "Steam" button at the top left of the screen;
- Select “Settings” from the drop-down menu;
- Go to the “In Game” section;
- Now click on the cross in the “Keyboard shortcut for screenshot” field;
- When the field is empty (it should say “None”), left-click on it, and then click on the key on the keyboard that you want to set for creating screenshots in Steam;
- Click OK.
Please note that in the screen settings menu, you can also change the keyboard shortcut for calling the overlay, configure the sound when taking a screenshot, display notifications, and also the process of saving an uncompressed copy.
Location of screenshots on the computer
Once you have taken a screenshot, it is automatically saved on your computer. The folder where the screenshots will be saved can be changed to any other one in the same place (Steam settings/In game/), where the keys are assigned. However, by default, screenshots are stored in the Steam root folder.
To find this folder as quickly as possible, take a screenshot, then click “Show on disk” in the additional overlay window. After this, a folder with screenshots of a particular game will open. Related folders contain screenshots from other games, if available. It is noteworthy that the folder with screenshots may have a name in numbers rather than words indicating the game. Don't be alarmed - this is how it should be!
If you want to manually find the folder with screenshots, the path to it usually looks like this: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\120058444\760\remote\ (the numbers may vary for each user). However, the path may vary depending on the location Steam installations and choice for storing screenshots.
How to download a screenshot from Steam
To have access to screenshots from any device (even mobile phone or tablet), screenshots must be uploaded to the server. Then you need to open your Steam profile, and on the right side of the display go to the “Screenshots” menu.
All the screenshots taken are there. For convenience, you can filter their display by creation date or game. If you logged into your profile through the official Steam website, to download the screenshot, simply open it in a new window, click right click mouse, then click “Save image as...” and select the location where the screen will be located.

To open or close access to displaying screenshots, click “Manage screenshots” in the menu. Commit Settings and Saving

View - delete
If you took pictures during the game rally, then after the end of the action you can, without leaving account, go to “View” “Screenshots” and analyze them.

The lower horizontal menu contains functions that allow you to perform the necessary operations with them.
Using the first (from left to right) of the “Select all” commands, you can « Delete" all screenshots at once (penultimate key). This is true if there are a lot of them done during the session, and you don’t like them.
Deleted pictures, among other things, will free up the space allocated for you, which is limited in Steam.
You can go to view all and delete them one by one.
Each of the screenshots is deleted from the “View”:

There's another one useful feature lower horizontal menu– “Show on disk.”
If you select a snapshot with the cursor and activate this command, you will be shown the path to the storage where the specified screen is located.

As mentioned earlier, the process of creating screenshots consists of two stages: you create them, and they appear in one of the folders on your PC, and then you upload them to the cloud, and they become available for use through your Steam account. You don't have to upload them to the cloud - sometimes you can just take a photo and save it on your computer for one-time use. Option 1: Screenshots in your account
Uploaded screenshots to the service become available through a separate section of the account. All you have to do is open your profile and go to "Screenshots".
There you can do whatever you want with them: sort different ways for easy viewing, set them to privacy, copy direct links, respond to comments if other users leave them.
We will not dwell on the tools for working with screenshots, since this is not related to the topic of the article.
Option 2: Screenshots on your hard drive
To view what images are saved on your hard drive, use one of the two methods discussed below.
- The most convenient way to use the client is to open "Library", right-click on the game and select "View screenshots".
- You can also get there through the section "Screenshots" from Option 1 by clicking on "Upload screenshots".
- A universal manager window will open, where you can quickly see the pictures you need or upload something you accidentally didn’t take. This can be done very simply - just select the game, then the image itself, add a description for it, if necessary, marking it as a spoiler, and click on "Download".
- You can also click on the button "Show on disk" to view original files. They can be copied from here or deleted if necessary.
Without running the client, it is more difficult to find them. The fact is that the folder with screenshots for each game is located far away in a place that is not obvious to the user, and therefore you will have to look for it. The shared user folder is located at D:\Steam\userdata\12345678, where D- disk partition with the Steam folder, and 12345678 — personal numeric identifier. The default folder is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\12345678. Inside it there will be several more numbered folders, where each number corresponds to a specific game on Steam.
When going into each folder, you need to try to find a folder with the name "screenshots". It can be either immediately upon entering the main folder, or it can be nested in some others. Or it may be completely absent. As you can see, this method is inconvenient, since it is not clear where which game is located and how many folders you need to look through before finding the one you need.
- All pictures in the folder are stored in 2 types. The main folder stores a full-fledged original version of the image, and "thumbnails"— thumbnails of screenshots, which are a preliminary version of the main ones in the Steam feed. Based on the thumbnail, the user can quickly determine whether he is interested in your photo or not.
- Being in "screenshots", you can not only view images, but also delete unnecessary ones that are not uploaded to the cloud. In addition, each user can add their own image to the folder and upload it to their profile, even if it was not created through Steam. However, there is a certain limitation - you need to copy the name of the screenshot that you created while in the game and which is not needed, launch (or restart) the screenshot manager and send the substituted image for upload to the cloud.
Setting up a screenshot folder
You can also designate a local folder for screenshots by going to "Settings" game client. Switch to tab "In Game" and click on the button "Screenshot folder".
Using the internal explorer, specify the folder where screenshots will be saved in the future.
