One of the functions of UEFI is Secure Boot, which ensures that unauthorized operating systems and software are launched during the computer startup process. This means that this feature does not belong to Windows 8 and 10, but is only applied by the system. The reason for disabling this feature may be the inability to boot the PC from a USB drive when the USB flash drive is created correctly.
Sometimes it becomes necessary to turn off the Secure Boot option in UEFI, which is designed to configure the hardware used today instead of the BIOS on motherboards. Secure Boot may not allow you to boot from a disk or USB drive when installing Windows XP, 7 or Ubuntu.
Very often, a notification may appear on the desktop screen in the eighth version of Windows that Secure Boot is not configured correctly. To prevent this from happening, you need to read the instructions on how to turn off this option in various UEFI options.
Go to UEFI settings
To turn off the Secure Boot option, the first step is to go to the PC's UEFI settings.
This can be done in two ways.
Option number 1. If the eighth is used Windows version, then you can go to "Settings", where select "Change PC settings". In this window, click on "Update and Recovery" and select "Recovery". After that, you need to click "Restart" in special cases of loading. Next, you need to click on "Advanced Settings", and then "UEFI Software Settings". As a result, the PC will reboot with the specified settings.
Option number 2. In addition, when starting a desktop computer, you need to click Delete. If the laptop starts, then you should click F2. These are the most common buttons, however, they may vary depending on the laptop model. Basically, these buttons are indicated when the device is turned on.
Options for disabling Secure Boot on different laptops and motherboards
There are several options to disable this option in different UEFI interfaces. All of the options described below can be used on most existing motherboards that support this option. If there is no suitable option in this list, then
in the BIOS of the laptop, there may be a similar item to turn off Secure Boot.
Asus motherboards and devices
To turn off the secure boot option on Asus computers, or rather it modern models, you need to go to UEFI and enter the Boot section. After that, you need to select Secure Boot, and then you need to set Other OS in the OS Type parameter. Then you need to press F10 to save the settings.
Sometimes, on some varieties of Asus laptop motherboards, in order to perform these tasks, you need to go to Security section or Boot, which must be set to Disabled for the Secure Boot parameter.
Disabling Secure Boot on HP Pavilion and other HP laptops
To disable secure boot on HP devices, you need to perform a few manipulations. Having started the PC, you need to immediately press Esc, after which a menu will be displayed on the tap, through which you can go to the BIOS settings. To do this, press the F10 button.
Going into the BIOS, you need to visit the System Configuration section and select the Boot Options item. Here you need to find the Secure Boot item and set it to Disabled. After all the manipulations, you must save all the settings.
Lenovo and Toshiba devices
To disable the Secure Boot option in UEFI on Lenovo and Toshiba laptops, you need to go to the UEFI software. To switch to UEFI, you must press F2 when starting the laptop. Then you need to go to the Security section. In this tab, in the Secure Boot line, you must set Disabled. After all the manipulations, you need to save the changes. To do this, press F10.
On Dell laptops
On Dell laptops with InsydeH2O installed, the Secure Boot option is located in the Boot tab, which requires you to change to UEFI Boot. To disable secure boot, you must set the value to Disabled. After all the steps to save the changes, you need to press F10.
Disable Secure Boot on Acer
To find the Secure Boot item in Aser laptops, you need to go to the Boot section of the UEFI settings, but you cannot disable it by default, i.e. it is not possible to change the Enabled value to Disabled. On Aser desktops, you can deactivate this option in the Authentication tab. In addition, this item can be located in the System Configuration section, which can be accessed through Advanced.
To be able to change this option, you must set a password in the Security section using Set Supervisor Password. After these steps, you can carry out manipulations to turn off secure boot. In addition, you may need to activate CSM boot mode or Legacy Mode instead of UEFI.
gigabyte
To disable safe launch on Gigabyte motherboards, you need to go to BIOS Features. To start the PC from a bootable drive, you must activate the CSM boot and previous version downloads.
Multiple shutdown options
On most computers, you can find the same options for the required option as described above. Sometimes some points may differ slightly. For example, turning off Secure Boot can occur according to the type of OS selection. In the BIOS, you must select Windows 8 or 7. Then you must select Windows 7, which is almost the same as turning off Secure Boot.
If you have any questions about a particular motherboard, you can look for answers on the Internet or on the website of the device developer. To check if the Secure Boot option is active in Windows 8 and Windows 10, you need to press Win + R and type the msinfo32 command, then click OK.
In the window that appears, you need to specify the root partition where you want to find "System Information". Here you need to find the “Secure Boot Status” item, in which you can see if the Secure Boot option is running.
In certain situations, users may need to start a computer or laptop from a bootable USB flash drive. If it is created correctly, there should be no problems with this when Secure Boot is disabled on the computer. If this option is enabled, an unauthorized operating system cannot be started while the computer is booting. It can also cause problems with installing Windows.
What is Secure Boot
It is a mistake to think that Secure Boot is an option of the Windows operating system. How to disable Secure Boot

HP motherboards and laptops

Asus motherboards and laptops
To disable Secure Boot on Asus devices, you need to go to the "Boot" tab in UEFI, then select the "Secure Boot" option. Unlike many other BIOSes, here you will not need to disable the function, but set the "OS Type" option to the "Other OS" option.
Note: Above is the method for new models of Asus laptops and motherboards. In some modifications, you will need to go to the "Security" tab in UEFI, and set the "Secure Boot" parameter in it to Disable.
Acer motherboards and laptops
Notebook. To disable Secure Boot on an Acer laptop, you need to go to the "Security" tab and select the "Set Supervisor Password" option. Motherboard. You can disable Secure Boot on an Acer motherboard in the "Authentication" section by selecting the Disable value for the corresponding option. If the motherboard is old enough, you should look for an option in the "Advanced" - "System Configuration" sections.
Gigabyte motherboards
The most modern version of UEFI is presented on Gigabyte motherboards. To disable Secure Boot in this shell, you need to go to the "BIOS Features" tab and translate the corresponding item to Disable or Disabled, depending on the localization.
On other motherboards and laptop models, the Secure Boot disable scheme is approximately the same. It is important to note that before exiting the BIOS, do not forget to save the options so that the changes made are not reset.

After entering the BIOS, you need to open the "BOOT" tab and see if the "Secure Boot" tab is active. Most likely, it will be inactive and cannot be changed. This is due to the fact that the administrator password is not set in the BIOS section "Security".
To install it, you should open this section and select the item " Set Supervisor Password"And press Enter.

Asus
Some Asus laptop models (especially new ones) sometimes confuse novice users. In fact, how can you disable secure boot in them?
1. First, go to the BIOS and open the section "Security". At the very bottom there will be an item " Secure Boot Control" - you need to switch it to disabled, i.e. switch off.
2. After the reboot, enter the BIOS again and then in the "Boot" section, do the following:
- Fast Boot - switch to Disabled mode (i.e. turn off fast boot. The tab is not everywhere! If you don’t have it, then just skip this recommendation);
- Launch CSM - switch to Enabled mode (i.e. enable support and compatibility with "old" OS and software);
- Then press again F10- save the settings and restart the laptop.
3. After the reboot, we enter the BIOS and open the " Boot" - in the "Boot Option" item, you can select the bootable media that is connected to USB port(for example). Screenshot below.
Then we save the BIOS settings and reboot the laptop (F10 button).
Dell

In Dell laptops, disabling Secure Boot is probably one of the easiest - one entry into Bios is enough and no administrator passwords, etc. are needed.
After entering the BIOS - open the "Boot" section and set the following parameters:
- Boot List Option - Legacy (this includes support for older operating systems, i.e. compatibility);
- Security Boot - disabled (disable secure boot).

HP
After entering the BIOS, open the section " System configuration", And then go to the tab" Boot Option"(See screenshot below).
After the reboot, the text "A change to the operating system secure boot mode is pending ..." will appear.
We are warned about changes in the settings and offer to confirm them with a code. You just need to enter the code shown on the screen and press Enter.
After this change, the laptop will reboot, and secure boot will be disabled.
To boot from a USB flash drive or disk: when you turn on your HP laptop, press ESC, and select “F9 Boot Device Options” from the start menu, then you can select the device you want to boot from.
In principle, in laptops of other brands, turning off secure boot proceeds in the same way, there are no significant differences. The only point: on some models, entering the BIOS is “complicated” (for example, in laptops Lenovo- you can read about it in this article :). On the sim round off, all the best!
To install various operating systems and software, you must disable UEFI Secure Boot in the BIOS, because by default this feature prevents the installation of any operating systems other than Windows.
How to disable Secure Boot in UEFI Asus
To disable Secure Boot in UEFI Bios, follow the instructions:
1. Go to BIOS, to do this, restart the computer and press F2 as soon as the picture appears on the screen, or:
- Click on the notification icon and click on the "All settings" link.
- Open the "Update and Security" section, click on the "Recovery" button.
- In the window that opens, click "Restart Now".
- The computer will restart and a blue window with options will appear.
- Click on the link “Diagnostics” => “Advanced options”.
- Now you need to select "UEFI Firmware Settings".
- After the next reboot, you will be taken to UEFI or Bios (the old name).

Click right click on the Start menu.
Go to "Power Management".
