Click double click by the icon in the tray, below, on the right, where the system clock is located.
Confirm switching to advanced mode. An additional menu will appear at the top. Select the item in it - Settings and onwards Additional settings.
We are in the settings menu. Scroll the slider and find the option - Update
Press the button " Change", we get to the update server options menu -
Attention!!! Here you need to register a valid update server. Copy any of the paragraph - NOD32 update server:, for example, as in the screenshot.
Paste the copied server into an empty column and press the button - Add
Then press the button - OK
Important!!! After clicking the button below the option Update server: the server you copied should be installed. After this, press the button - OK.
After all the procedures, in the main window of the program we find the tab - Update, click on it, find the option on the right - Update the virus signature database.
Click on this option and observe the process of updating signatures.
Small addition
Sometimes it happens that the antivirus simply does not want to update. And no actions bring the desired success.
In that case, you just need to clear " UPDATE CACHE". This is done this way:
- Double click on the icon Nod in the tray on the right, a program window will appear.
- Again, as when registering the program server, press the key on your keyboard - " F5", we get into the settings.
- Find the tab on the left Update, on the left option - Clear update cache. Press the button Clear
- Exit to the main program window, press the button Update.
If all else fails
If you have registered a working server, but the antivirus still does not update, then you just need to remove it and install a new one (in any case, this will only be better). Antivirus ESET NOD32 version 4 is removed in a peculiar way, not that programs are not removed this way, but all programs are simply usually removed through the option " Installation and removal of programms". But don’t even think about deleting it through this option; even if it is deleted, it will probably be deleted incorrectly (on Windows 7 later versions are possible).
To remove the antivirus, go to the menu Start, find the folder ESET, press - Removal. I repeat once again that this method removal is only relevant for 4th antivirus versions.
To provide top level virus protection, you need to ensure that you use current version antivirus program. Although automatic, regular updates of virus signature databases are also necessary, they do not carry the proposed latest versions new functionality and operational improvements. To update ESET, follow one of the instructions below.

1. The update can be performed from the version of ESET NOD32 already installed on your computer. To do this, open your antivirus and go to the section "Update", then click on the button "Check for updates".
