How to download games on Windows. Installing gaming applications on Windows Phone

Science is moving forward and this primarily concerns technology and everything connected with it. But we often become attached to already familiar things and it is not so easy for us to learn something new. Now the new operating system Windows 7 has become popular, but having installed it, we will still need to install all the necessary programs in the same way. But how to install games on Windows 7? Detailed instructions in our article.

It is worth noting that this operating system does not have the same games that were in the previous version. And if we want to play our favorite “toys,” we will have to download them ourselves. To our delight, you can download these games to your computer for free. They are available on many professional sites. To do this, enter the desired game in a search engine, see if it is provided for free, and then download it to your computer. Be sure to install an antivirus program before any downloads.

What do you need to do

The very first thing is to write in advance the entire list of your favorite games and download everything. Then start the installation procedure. Let us immediately warn you that they may change their appearance a little, but the principle will remain unchanged. You must understand that whatever your operating system is, you can install all the “toys” that were installed on older versions of Windows.

First we start the installation process. But before that, go to “Programs”, then go to the “Enable/disable components” tab. Next, go to “Games” and select “Other Games”. We tick the required games. That's it, the games are running on your Windows 7. Installing the standard games was not that difficult. We wish you a successful installation!

It is widely believed that this platform only supports applications from the official store. But that's not true.

Bypassing the rules

So, first, let's look at how to install a game on Windows Phone from third-party sources. First of all, we need to create an account on the official Microsoft resource. To do this, just fill out a special form. In the next step, to resolve the issue on Windows Phone, we will need to install special SDK software. You can install this tool on a computer with 4 GB of RAM. After installing the package, we register the smartphone.

Working with entertainment applications

Now let's move on to solving the question of how to install games on Windows Phone 8. There are two main ways to solve this problem. You can use Power Tools or Application Deployment. Often the first method is more effective. Now you know how to install XAP files on your smartphone. The process will not take much time.

Update

Now let's look at how to install games on Windows Phone 8.1, because this version of the platform has a number of features. There is a special function in the system for installing applications from removable media, but the developers decided to move it a little. So, let's go to the "Store". Click on the three dots below. Select the section called “Local Applications”. At the next stage, check the box for the games that need to be installed. We use the “Install” function. That's all.

Rivals

Now we will look at how to install Android games on Windows Phone. This became possible thanks to the solution proposed by Microsoft in the Astoria project. From now on, any user has the opportunity to install apk files on WP phones. Microsoft is making enormous efforts to attract as many people as possible to its proprietary mobile platform. However, at the moment, achievements in this area are very modest. No matter what programmers and marketers do, their efforts are not enough as users want more apps on their smartphones.

The capabilities of Windows 10, a universal system for various platforms, can help break the vicious circle. A solution was found. Project Astoria is a special tool for developers. Its purpose is to make it as easy as possible to port and then run Android programs in the Windows environment. Initially, the new product was supposed to be shown to the world in the fall of 2015 together with a new proprietary mobile platform. However, there have been changes in plans. There was no show, but Project Astoria files and documentation circulated online. Now the described solution is available to everyone. Note that Project Astoria makes it possible to freely install applications from Android if they do not use a set of Google Play services for their work.

Project Astoria is promised to be launched not only for the Windows operating system, but also in a version for Mac. To install the apk file, you will need Java JDK, Android Studio, and skills to work with the Android Debug Bridge tool. The list of supported devices is currently limited, but is gradually expanding. We are talking primarily about mobile devices of the Lumia series.

A number of users have already tried the new solution in action. They managed to install several Android applications on their devices. It turned out that there is nothing complicated in using the described developer tools.

So, download the ADB and Wconnect tools. Unpack the resulting archive. Open the Wconnect folder. Install vcredist_x86.exe and IpOverUsbInstaller.msi. On your smartphone, go to “Settings”. Go to Update & Security. Next, open For Developers. We turn on Developers Mode, as well as Device Discovery. We return to the computer. Go to the Wconnect folder. Open the command line. At the next stage, we connect the smartphone to the computer. In this case, a USB cable is more suitable for these purposes. Enter a special command like this: wconnect.exe usb. Press Enter. At the next stage we perform pairing. Enter the code from your smartphone. Press Enter. Let's move on to the unpacked adb folder. Open the command line. We make sure that the smartphone connected to the personal computer successfully. For this purpose, enter Press Enter. A list of connected devices appears. So we figured out how to install the game. As you can see, the procedures are quite simple. Any user can understand them. Good luck!

Good afternoon.

Time moves inexorably forward and, sooner or later, certain programs and games become obsolete. The operating systems in which they worked are also beginning to be replaced en masse with newer ones.

But what about those who want to remember their youth, or who simply need this or that program or game for work that refuses to work in the newfangled Windows 8?

In this article I would like to look at running old programs and games on new computers. Let's look at several methods, including virtual machines, which allow you to run almost any application!

So, let's begin…

1. Game console emulators

Perhaps the first word in this article should go to game console emulators (Sega, Dendy, Sony PS). These consoles appeared in the 90s and immediately gained wild popularity. They were played by young and old at any time of the year and day!

By the 2000s, the excitement subsided, computers began to appear and somehow everyone forgot about them. But these console games can also be played on a computer by downloading a special program - emulator. Then download the game and open it in this emulator. Everything is quite simple.

By the way! The network is full of emulators for other game consoles. The purpose of this small preview for this article was to show that you can play console games on your computer!

Now let’s move from console games to computer games and programs...

2. Launch using Windows OS Compatibility Tools

If a program or game refuses to start or behaves unstable, you can try running it in compatibility mode for a specific OS. Fortunately, the developers themselves built this feature into Windows.

Is it true, over the entire period of use, this method probably helped me out a couple of times out of several hundred launches of problematic applications! Therefore, it’s worth trying, but you can’t believe in 100% success.

1) Right-click on the desired executable program file and select properties. By the way, you can also click on the desktop icon (i.e., shortcut). The effect is the same.

2) Now check the box next to “compatibility mode” and select the OS you want to emulate.

Then save the settings and try to start the program. There is a chance that it will work.

3. Running games and programs in the DOS environment

Even the oldest programs can be run on a modern OS, although this will require special programs that emulate the DOS environment.
O days of the best DOS emulators in Windows environment is DOSBox. You can download from of. site programs.

Installing DOSBox

Installing the program is not difficult. Only I would recommend that when installing, be sure to create an icon (shortcut) of the executable file on the desktop. Check the box next to “Desktop Shortcut”.

Running games in DOSBox

Let's take some old game that needs to be launched on Windows8. let it be Sid Meier's turn-based strategy Civilization 1.

If your program requires Windows 98, for example, then you will no longer be able to do without a virtual machine. Next we will talk about them!

4. Running old operating systems in new versions of Windows

It is possible to run any old program on a new OS only using virtual machines. They are ordinary programs that emulate, as it were, the operation of a real computer. Those. It turns out that you can run an OS in Windows 8, for example, Windows 2000. And already in these running old OSs you can run any executable files (programs, games, etc.).

We’ll talk about how to do all this in this section of this article.

4.1. Virtual machine. Installation

This is a free virtual machine that will allow you to run dozens of operating systems on your new computer, from Windows 95 to Windows 7.

The only thing is that this type of program is quite demanding on system resources, so if you want to run Windows 8 on Windows 8, you need to have at least 4 GB.

Works in both 32 and 64 bit systems. The installation takes place in a standard way, personally, I don’t touch any checkboxes, everything is by default.

The only thing I leave a checkbox for is for the installer to create a shortcut on the desktop to launch the program (Create a shortcut on the desktop).

In general, after installing VirtualBox, you can begin installing the OS into it. But more on that below.

4.2. Setting up a virtual machine

Before you begin installing the OS, you need to configure the virtual machine.

1) After the first launch in VirtualBox, you can click only one button - “create”. Actually, we press.

5) The virtual hard disk that you create in this program is a regular image file. It will be located in the folder that you specify during setup.

There are two types of virtual hard disk:

Dynamic: means that the file will grow in size as the disk fills up;

Fixed: The size will be set immediately.

6) This, as a rule, ends the setup of the virtual machine. By the way, you should have a button to start the created machine. It will behave as if you turned on the computer without the OS installed.

4.3. Installing Windows 2000 on a virtual machine

In this post, we will use Windows 2000 as an example. Its installation will not differ much from the installation of Windows Xp, NT, ME.

To start you need to create or download an installation disk from this OS. By the way, the image is needed in ISO format (in principle, any image will do, but with ISO the entire installation procedure will be faster).

1) Start the virtual machine. Everything is simple here and there should be no problems.

2) The second step is to connect our image in ISO format to the virtual machine. To do this, select the item device/select optical disk image. If the image is joined, then you should see a picture like the one in the screenshot below.

3) Now you need to reboot the virtual machine. This can be done using the command of the same name. See screenshot below.

4) If the image is working and you did everything correctly in the previous 3 steps, you will see a welcome screen and the installation of Windows 2000 will begin.

5) After 2-5 min. (on average) copying installation files, you will be asked to read the license agreement, select a disk for installation, whether to format it, etc. - in general, everything is the same as during a normal Windows installation.

The only thing. You don’t have to be afraid to make mistakes, because anyway, everything that happens will happen on a virtual machine, which means it won’t harm your main operating system in any way!

7) After another reboot, you will already see Windows 2000 installed!

By the way, you can install games, programs in it, and generally work in it as if it were a computer running Windows 2000.

4.3. Sharing files with a virtual machine (hard drive connection)

Many users do not experience any big problems with installing and specifying basic settings for a virtual machine. But difficulties may begin when you decide to add a file (or, conversely, copy it from the virtual machine disk). Directly, through “edit-copy-paste” the trick will not work...

3) Here you need to select the section “ disk management«.

In the column on the right, click on the control button and select the “attach virtual hard disk” option. Enter the address where it is located and connect the VHD file.

How to find a VHD file?

Very simply, by default, during installation, the file will be at:

C:\Users\alex\VirtualBox VMs\winme

where "alex" is your account name.

Personally, I would not have bothered to figure it out if I had not encountered the fact that the program needed for the calculations was not so ancient and would not refuse to work in Windows XP. I had to install and configure a virtual machine, then install Windows 2000 into it, and then carry out calculations in it...

By the way, how do you launch old programs? Or don't use them at all?

In the last lesson we learned install the program on computer. In this lesson you will learn how to properly install the game on your computer. Each of us has played games on the computer at least once. Installing the game is quite easy.

Before installing the game, you need to create a folder where you will install all the games. Remember that everything on your computer should be stored in thematic folders. All games should be stored in one folder (for example, “Games”), all movies in another (for example, “Cinema”), etc. All installed programs are stored on our “C” drive in the “Program Files” folder.

Storing files and folders in this way is very convenient. In such a catalog it is easy to find the necessary data. Let's create a folder in which all the games will be located.

We determine the place where all games will be installed

First you need to decide on the disk (hard drive partition) on which all games will be stored.

Modern computer games take up quite a lot of disk space. Therefore, you need to install games on a disk that has a lot of free space. Open the Start menu and select Computer. We see all existing disks (hard drive partitions) of your computer.

I have 3 disks on my computer. The most free space is on drive “D”. This is where I will install all the games. Double-click on this disk with the left mouse button and you will see its contents.

On this disk you need to create a folder in which all games will be stored. I named this folder “Games”. We have already learned how to create and name folders. That is, you now need to create a new folder on the disk and call it “Games”. If someone doesn't remember or doesn't know how to do this, do lesson 8 how to create a folder and come back to this lesson.

So, you have created the “Games” folder on one of the disks. Now let's install the game there.

Where to get computer games

Computer games can be bought in a store (disc with the game) or downloaded on the Internet. On the Internet you can download licensed free games or pirated copies of paid games.

Buy discs only in special computer stores, and not in a market where there are many fakes.

You can download free games from special sites. Enter “Free computer games” in your browser and you will see many sites that offer free downloads of games.

If you want to download a pirated copy of a paid game from the Internet (no matter what, spend money and get the game for free), then download only from torrent trackers.

On torrents, moderators check all files, and the likelihood of catching a virus is extremely low. But catching a virus by downloading a paid game from a file hosting service or some site is extremely high. Do not forget that by downloading pirated copies of games, you are violating copyright and may be held liable for this (although this does not frighten the majority of the population of our country). You have downloaded or purchased the game - let's install it.

How to install the game

If you bought a disc with a game, insert it into the drive (CD-Rom or DVD-Rom) and wait until the disc autorun window opens. Then the disk menu should appear and in it you need to find the “Install” button.

If you downloaded the game from the Internet, then you just need to double-click on the downloaded file with the left mouse button and the installation will begin.

Next are the general steps, which are the same no matter where you got the game from. As in the case of installing programs, you need to go through several stages before the game installation begins. Most of the stages are the same, no matter what game you install.

Now I will install the game and comment on each stage. Once you install the game once, installing it next time will not be difficult.

After starting the installation, a welcome window will appear. There may be a brief description of the game and installation recommendations. Click “Next”.

At the next stage, you need to specify the path (location) where the game will be installed. Just like programs, by default games are offered to be installed in the “Program Files” folder. But this is not correct. We have created a “Games” folder, and this is where we will store all the games.

Click the browse button and first find in the list the disk on which we created the “Games” folder and then the folder itself. Right-click on it and click “Ok”. You have specified the path to the folder where you want to install the game. Click “Next”.

For user convenience, many games are listed in the start menu. This is convenient; you can launch the game from the Start menu. You just need to find the game icon among the list of all installed programs in the Start menu. It’s better to leave everything as it is and click the “Next” button.

The penultimate stage of installation is additional tasks. Look at the picture.

Here you are asked to do 3 additional tasks: install for all users, create an icon on the desktop, create an icon in the Quick Launch panel. It is necessary to create an icon on the desktop, since you can launch the game by clicking on the icon on the desktop. It is not necessary to select the remaining items. In general, there can be many and different additional tasks. If you are not sure about something, leave everything as it is. Game creators try to make the installation process as optimal as possible. Click the “Next” button and move on to the last stage.

At the last stage, you can view in the list what you selected in the previous stages. Click the “Install” button and wait for the game to install. Depending on the power of your computer and the volume of the game, the game can install from a few minutes to an hour or even two hours (in extremely rare situations).

After installation, click the “Finish” button. Congratulations!!! You have just installed the game yourself. The game icon now appears on the desktop. Click on it twice with the left mouse button and the game will start.

Try to install games only in a special folder (in our example, the “Games” folder) so as not to clutter your computer.

The lesson is over. If you have questions or something is not clear to you, ask your questions in the comments.

Many users do not like the Windows Phone and Windows 10 Mobile operating system, since it is not as open as Android, for example. There is even a myth that hacked games or programs cannot be installed on WP smartphones, since the system only accepts applications from the market...

In this article we want to refute this myth and tell you how you can install hacked applications on a smartphone running the Windows Phone operating system.

It's very simple, you just need to take a few important steps. Follow the instructions carefully and you will succeed.

1. First, you need to have a Microsoft account. You may have created it on the first day of using your Windows Phone smartphone. If you do not have such an account, we suggest you read the instructions:

How to Create a Microsoft Account (Live ID)

2. After registering a Live ID account, proceed to installing the Windows Phone SDK software (without this software, you will not be able to install xap files on your smartphone). You can install the WP SDK on Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit) and Windows 8 (provided you have 4 GB of RAM). After installing this software package, register your WP smartphone. You can read how to do this in these articles:

Installing Windows Phone SDK on Windows 7 (32 and 64 bit)

Instructions for installing SDK 8.0 on Windows 8

Note: for smartphones running Windows Phone 7.5, 7.8 you need to install SDK 7.1, for smartphones running Windows Phone 8 - SDK 8.0.

3. The hardest part is over, now you can safely move on to installing hacked games and programs on your smartphone. There are two ways to do this: through the standard application from the SDK " Application Deployment"or through the program" Windows Phone Power Tools"We recommend the second method, since almost all hacked games are successfully installed through it. Detailed instructions for these two methods can be read in our article.
