New ios 10 on iphone 5s.

The release of mobile iOS 10 is just around the corner. Developers are actively testing the new operating system, but it is not available to users. The demo firmware will not work fully on iPhones or iPads. But can this scare away curious owners? mobile devices?! We still suggest that the most impatient and inquisitive users test the new mobile OS version 10 beta. Be sure to read to the end so as not to turn your iPhone or iPad into a non-functioning gadget.

The very first and most important thing you should do is take care of a backup copy of your operating system. In case of failure, you can switch to the old firmware and avoid the big problems that updates are always fraught with. You can back up your settings and all content to cloud storage, such as iCloud. Click " Settings → iCloud → Backup→ Create backup copy » and wait for the data backup process to complete.

To be on the safe side, create another copy in iTunes. Go to the appropriate tab from the upper left corner and do the same.

Now that the copies old firmware stored on iTunes and iCloud servers, you can update to the new one iOS 10 beta versions. To update it is better to use wireless connection. Set not available yet ordinary users. From an iPad or iPhone, click on the link and receive a profile file on your device that will launch the software automatically. The installation process is very fast - about 60 seconds. When the update is complete, don't forget to reboot.

From "Settings" go to "Update" software" There you will see that the operating system update is already available. The new firmware must be downloaded and installed. Please be patient: the flashing procedure will take some time.

In the fall of 2016, Apple developed and presented an updated version of iOS 10 for the iPhone, which was marked by significantly progressive new features and functions. The main changes were in the Photos and Messages applications, the Apple News news feed especially changed and the service advanced Apple Music. At the same time, only developers who have registered will be able to download iOS 10 beta 1.

iOS 7 version easily served any iPhone device from version 4 and above. Now a new version iOS 10 systems will not be supported on the iPhone 4S, although Apple was initially set to update the system versions on all devices. However, following the manufacturer’s traditions of limiting support in subsequent OS releases, it is quite reasonable that the list of devices compatible with iOS 10 did not include the low-power iPhone 4s, the low-capacity iPad mini, as well as 9.7 inch small-sized iPad second and third generation.

Now owners of iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 devices, unfortunately, are limited in their options iOS updates up to the ninth firmware version. The powerful iOS 10 operating system will be available only for iPhones version 5 and higher. The ability to update to iOS 10 remains for all devices with iOS 9 systems, minus iPhone 4S holders. Don't be upset, maybe this is for the best.

As for the new functions that were included in connection with the progressive system, now users will be able to experience all the delights of the tenth version. Firstly, the user will be able to view received messages without unlocking the device screen. All you have to do is pick up your iPhone.

Secondly, enter context menu Thanks to iOS 10, the user will be able to access the device by just pressing 3D Touch once.

Thirdly, the Siri program has improved and improved to self-education. Now the voice assistant understands you on the go with the help of machine learning.

Fourth, when taking photos, your camera will be able to detect and recognize faces.

Fifthly, Apple Maps is supplemented with various convenient services.

Fourthly, the design of the music application has undergone significant changes.

Many people today are interested in how to update their iPhone and how to install iOS 10 on an iPhone. This can be done in several ways. The first update method involves using a computer and downloaded iTunes programs. The second method is based on using only an iPhone or other device with a charger.

Updating iPhone using iTunes

This method of updating to version ten is both simple and safe. After turning on your computer, check that you have installed latest version iTunes program, if not, then download a new one.

Then carry out a series of sequential steps to update the system.

1 Backing up data to iPhone 6. Turn on your iPhone and select the “Backup” section in the settings menu. At the same time, determine the path where all data from your iPhone will be copied. For example, to the iCloud cloud storage program or to this PC, while setting a secret password. 2 Downloading updates to iPhone. Log in to the “Browse” application on your smartphone, and in the new window, activate the “Update” button, and then “Download and update”. The system will begin updating to the latest version. 3 Reboot the iPhone. After the updates are completed, the process of rebooting the smartphone and testing the new changes received is necessary.

Updating iPhone to iOS 10 Directly

As mentioned earlier, you can update your system directly from your iPhone, having at hand Charger. Let's consider an algorithm of sequential actions.

1 Connection. We turn on the iPhone, put it on charge, connecting it to the outlet. Running the function Wi-Fi networks. We check whether the iPhone has enough free main memory to install a new operating system. If there is relatively little space, then you will have to delete a couple of programs, which will return on their own when the system is updated. 2 Open the settings menu and find cloud storage iCloud. In the “General” menu we find the “Update Software” section. Upon activation, a window with a list of firmware will open. We find the desired OS version and activate the “Download and Install” function. The system will begin updating, which will take a long time.

Remember that in special cases new system may not want to install, and then think in advance about the steps to return data to the iPhone. For example, back up all your data before you start the iOS 10 installation process.

In principle, updating the OS for iPhone 5 and 5S should not fail if everything is done correctly. The iOS 10 version may also work well iPhone models 6, 6S and others iPad devices, iPod Touch, also already running on iOS 9.

Today, Craig Federighi, Apple's vice president, unveiled the "biggest" update (in his words) to iOS. Apple includes absolutely new screen locks, updated notifications, expanded 3D Touch support and new tools for interacting with applications. Intrigued? Let's go into more detail.

Here's what the updated lock screen looks like. It is now possible to perform actions with notifications directly on this screen using 3D Touch, a “clear all notifications” button and other features.

Spotlight search has undergone amazing changes. There are now not only Siri suggestions and search results, but also another helpful information: match results, your calendar, weather and even video playback!

The most important innovation is, perhaps, the open Siri API for third-party developers. Now users will be able to communicate with voice assistant as with a person: for example, “open me the latest article on the site”, call a taxi using “Taxi”, “write in Slack to CEO" and so on.

As Federighi said, Apple is "bringing the intelligence of Siri to the keyboard" - the new QuickType feature will be a real boon for those who like to chat. Right here is contact information, current location, calendar, latest addresses.

In the Photos application, recognition of not only faces, but also objects has appeared. Photo sorting has also become more advanced thanks to the special Memories feature. According to Apple representatives, the company uses artificial intelligence to sort photos: albums like "Family", "Travel" and "Mom's Birthday" are created automatically. Integration, of course, did not go unnoticed.

Cards. In iOS 10, the application has a new design and features. Improved navigation new interface object search, updated traffic information, works perfectly with CarPlay. Apple Maps is now open to third-party developers - you can find a restaurant in OpenTable, open it on the map, order a car from Uber and pay Apple Pay.

Music. 15 million paid subscribers service, and this is not the limit. The application was presented in a completely new form - perhaps this is the design we were waiting for. Now the service will select music to suit your preferences even better in the “For You” tab, and support for song lyrics will allow you to sing along to your favorite artist. The interface is really cool, as is the new font.

Perhaps the only downside of the update is that we will again have to get used to the new application and understand it. If only Beats 1 had appeared in Russia... but no, and this time a miracle did not happen.

As for Apple News, 60 million users actively use the app around the world. New Flipboard style design included. Appeared in the application paid subscriptions and notifications about breaking news. It’s a pity that this does not apply to Russian users.

Apple continues to develop HomeKit - the company has released a new Home application for iOS. WITH using iPhone, iPad and special accessories, you can completely control your home: turn on the lights, adjust their brightness, open windows and much more. The application will be available directly on the lock screen - for example, a picture from a surveillance camera.

Do you think that's all? But no. In the Phone app voice messages are now converted to text automatically. The utility interface has been updated, the VoIP API is available for third-party developers, including WhatsApp.

iMessage now includes recognition of links and videos from YouTube, improved integration with the Photos application (somewhat reminiscent of Telegram), new emoji that have become... three times larger! New bubble effects to enhance emotion let you convey exactly what you're feeling to the other person. Although... it's probably easier to call.

There is also the ability to draw messages and respond to your interlocutor using Digital Touch (yes, just like in Apple Watch!).

But this feature deserves special attention - sending tracks from Apple Music and listening to them directly in iMessage. Apple is creating another “wall” on VKontakte, don’t you think? But the store of stickers for iMessage resembles... some kind of Viber.

Another very important feature that was mentioned in passing is support for general notes.

You can download iOS 10 on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch via standard system updates. All owners of gadgets running earlier versions of the OS can install new firmware over the air by going to Settings -> General -> Software Update.

At first, there may be problems loading iOS 10, since Apple servers will not be able to process requests from everyone. Access interruptions may last for several hours, and the update itself will download and install more slowly than usual.

Annually mobile operating system Apple iOS acquires new functions and becomes better. 2016, practically an anniversary year for Apple development, was no exception, but there are no revolutionary innovations in iOS 10. Over almost ten years of working on the system, the company has achieved perfection and focused on user experience. At the same time, the developers borrowed some elements from a competing Android platforms.

iOS 10 – what's new?

There really aren't as many changes as we would like. Moreover, the support itself has disappeared popular smartphone Apple – iOS 10 for iPhone 4S will not be released.

System changes

iOS 10 offers a redesigned Lock screen with larger notifications and a modular Control Center with swipeable tabs and the ability to clear all notifications at once with the touch of a button.

At the same time, the developers tried to pay maximum attention to 3D Touch technology, which is available to users of the company’s new devices. For example, notifications, Today view, and Control Center can be opened with a single swipe or tap. 3D Touch also allows you to respond to notifications directly from the lock screen and makes icons more informative. For example, if you press hard on the icon mail client the system will show from which people new letters came.

A nice addition is the Raise to Wake feature, which automatically wakes the screen when you pick up your iPhone, allowing you to view all notifications right from the lock screen.

Widgets have become more informative and even allow you to watch videos without going into the application, and the camera can now be launched by swiping to the center from the right edge on the lock screen or directly through the Control Center.

Even in iOS 10 you can delete (read: hide) standard applications. The innovation allows you to minimize the number of useless and unnecessary applications on the home screen, and if necessary, they can be restored through the App Store.

There are also hidden functions, which the company kept silent about. Among them is a dark theme, which was declassified by the Siri voice assistant. Sorry, activate this setting not yet possible.

Siri and QuickType

Siri has learned to understand complex requests and has become accessible third party developers. This means that the voice assistant has reached perfection and can now work with any application. For example, with its help you can already call Uber or send a message via WhatsApp. In addition, Siri can be used to control CarPlay applications, adjust the air conditioner or radio through applications from car manufacturers.

Siri has also made friends with the QuickType keyboard, thanks to which the latter has learned to predict words based on the context of the correspondence and suggest certain actions. For example, to the question “Where are you?”, the keyboard will offer ready-made answer options indicating your current location.

Photos and Messages

The Photos app can recognize faces and automatically group photos of people, places, and objects into beautifully designed collections in Memories mode. The new feature uses self-learning algorithms to relive the most important and forgotten moments stored in your photo collection. You can even find a separate collection with cats or “yourself”, and additional function Memory Movie will automatically create a movie with music, titles and transitions from frame to frame.

iMessage now allows you to send handwritten messages, can show pictures and videos, and automatically replace some words with emoticons. The latter became three times larger. It is also possible to insert photos by swiping and send hidden messages (the “Invisible Ink” function) - the recipient sees the text of the message only when he runs his finger over it.

Soon the App Store will have a whole section with various customizations for iMessage. Developers have gained access to the application and can now offer users their own stickers, animations and other decorations. Another interesting innovation was the ability to make purchases in online stores directly from correspondence.

Phone and Maps

The Phone application has learned to transform voicemail to text and receive calls via IP telephony through third-party services. The innovation is implemented through the VoIP API, which is designed to unify incoming calls. This means that calls through applications such as WhatsApp, Skype and Viber will be carried out through the interface of the standard application.

Analytical abilities allow Maps to predict the user’s desires, plotting a route taking into account the most likely places to visit, taken from the daily routine and calendar marks. When the route is planned, the service will show gas stations, restaurants, cafes and other establishments along the road and tell you how much the travel time will increase taking into account the stop. The application also learned to show traffic jams and became friends with extensions. For example, without leaving the service, you can call Uber or mark the restaurant where you have reserved a table in OpenTable.

Music, News and HomeKit

The Music application has become simpler and now shows the lyrics of the song being played. The number of tabs remains the same, but the little-used Connect tab is no longer there. It has been replaced by the “Search” tab. The “Media Library”, “For You”, “New” and “Radio” sections have undergone a major overhaul in order to simplify navigation.

The News application has received a new design with thematic sections, has learned to notify about important events, and now allows you to follow the releases of paid publications. Unfortunately, in Russia this service useless.

A new Home application has appeared, which is a smart home control panel. It supports any HomeKit certified devices and accessories. These can be thermostats and air conditioners, video cameras, light bulbs, door locks, all kinds of sensors, blinds, sockets and switches.

Home

Devices can be controlled individually or combined into groups to set up all devices at once with one scenario - and even one command for Siri. The application supports remote control and allows you to enable automatic settings changes depending on the time of day, your location and activity. The company says it has already launched about 100 HomeKit-enabled home automation devices this year.

Security and more

There are also many other less noticeable but useful innovations. In particular, collaboration on notes, the ability to edit Live Photos, and two-window mode in Safari on iPad. Payment system Apple Pay now lets you make online purchases in Safari with support, and the Bedtime Alarm in Watch can help you get regular sleep and get notified when it's time to go to bed.

In addition, the company says iMessage, FaceTime and HomeKit apps use core encryption technology to protect user data so neither Apple nor others can read it.

iOS 10 release date

At the moment, the iOS 10 operating system is available only to developers. The public beta version was released in July 2016, the final version was released in the fall, presumably in September 2016.

The new iOS 10 system supports iPhone 5, iPad Air, iPad Pro, iPad 4, iPad mini 2, iPod touch 6 and newer devices from the company. Users of iPhone 4s, iPad 2, iPad 3 and iPad mini will not receive it, since the characteristics of these devices do not meet the requirements of iOS 10.

Please note that the mentioned list of changes is not final. Some innovations may be added or declassified during beta testing, which will last about three months. In addition, the company probably has a few surprises in store to coincide with the launch of new smartphones.

Summary

It’s sad that support for the iPhone 4S was removed from iOS 10. But in general, it’s even unexpected that iOS 9 was released for this smartphone. Meanwhile, the “ten” represents the further evolution of mobile operating systems from Apple. There are no fundamental changes with it and, obviously, there won’t be even in iOS 11. As they say, there is a crisis of the genre - it’s difficult to come up with something “such and such” when a lot of things have already been implemented.

Let's hope that the new version won't be as problematic as iOS 9. Have you tried iOS 10 yet? Can you say anything about its stability and quality of performance? Leave your opinion in the comments!
