The cheapest Huawei smartphone is Huawei Y3 (2017). The cheapest Huawei smartphone is Huawei Y3 (2017) Features of the Huawei y 3 phone

Huawei Y3 2017 — inexpensive smartphone, representing the manufacturer’s youngest line. The device was announced in April 2017. Its main feature is the price, which is set at a minimum level.

Appearance and ergonomics

The body of the affordable Huawei U3 2017 phone is made of plastic. Its shape resembles a classic rectangle with rounded corners. There is a decorative frame around the perimeter that imitates metal. At the back there is not only the main camera, but also a logo, a multimedia speaker and a flash.

There are no different elements under the display, as only virtual buttons are used for navigation. The device is comfortable to hold in your hand because it is light and small in size, and its body has an ergonomic shape. Available colors: white, pink, blue and gold.

Display

The Y3 2017 smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch screen with a resolution of 854 by 480 pixels. The display is made according to IPS technology. Although its resolution is minimal, the picture quality does not suffer much from this. Viewing angles are good, and the image indoors remains of very high quality.

Hardware and performance

It is worth noting that the U3 2017 is available in two versions at once - with a MediaTek MT6580 processor (1300 MHz) or with a MediaTek MT6737M chip. These are modern quad-core solutions. But the latter option has a lower frequency (1100 MHz), but a powerful Mali-T720 MP2 graphics accelerator. Quantity random access memory is 1 GB, and the internal storage capacity is 8 GB. There is a separate slot for a memory card (maximum capacity 128 GB).

The device cannot boast of high performance, so for modern mobile games It's hardly suitable for colorful special effects. But it copes with everyday tasks, but multitasking can still be a problem. operating room Android system 6.0 with the EMUI 4.1 shell is offered to the user straight out of the box.

Communication and sound

The multimedia speaker in Huawei Y3 2017 is quite simple, purely budget (a lot high frequencies, but few lows and mids). At the same time, it’s pleasant to talk with your interlocutors; there is no discomfort from communication. A more advanced version of the device with the MediaTek MT6737M chip supports LTE networks.

Camera

The Huawei U3 2017 has a main 8-megapixel camera, which takes decent pictures in the daytime. There are additional settings, as well as interesting features, which will help diversify the filming process. The front 2-megapixel camera is suitable for photographing documents and simple self-portraits.

conclusions

The new Y3 2017 turned out to be quite an attractive option for anyone who wants to buy their first Android smartphone. Also this model for $60 it is suitable for the younger generation who cannot spend big money on flagships.

Pros:

  • Very low price.
  • Nice design.
  • Excellent ergonomics.
  • Beautiful EMUI shell.
  • Availability of LTE (in the older model).

Minuses:

  • Relatively low performance.
  • Small amount of memory.

In May 2017, Huawei presented new budget smartphones, among which the youngest was the Huawei Y3 2017. The device, with an average price of about $90, is positioned as a solution for young people who are not chasing advanced technologies. The device turned out to be a typical representative of an ultra-budget price category, with the appropriate appearance and filling.

Thanks to modest hardware, the manufacturer was able to keep the cost of the smartphone low, which allows it to compete with products from small Chinese companies, like Oukitel. But whether it can provide worthy resistance to such devices in reality will help determine our Huawei review Y3 2017.

The characteristics of the Huawei Y3 2017 from the moment we met it evoke mixed impressions. On the one hand - an ordinary Chinese, the same as his rivals. But if you look closely, you will see that no, not like that. And it differs not only for the better.

Design, case materials, dimensions and weight

The smartphone looks exactly like a bunch of other inexpensive devices. It doesn’t have anything special, except for the Huawei inscription under the screen instead of touch buttons. It is assembled with high quality, the parts fit well. In size and thickness it can be considered a brick.

The length of Huawei Y3 2017 reaches 145 mm, which is normal for 5 inches. But the width and thickness, 74 and 9.5 mm, respectively, are already too much. After all, in terms of width the device is closer to devices at 5.2-5.3", and in thickness - like long-livers with a 4000+ mAh battery (which is not here). The weight is also impressive, because 175 grams is already the indicators of phablets by 5, 5+ inches.

On the front of the smartphone there is a screen, which on the white version is surrounded by a black frame. And in general, the side frames are quite wide, 3-4 millimeters. Touch buttons no (they are on-screen), there is a speaker, sensors and a camera above the display.

The back panel is removable, monolithic, made of plastic, pleasant to the touch. The camera is located at the top center, flanked by a flash and speaker. A little lower is the manufacturer's logo, but it would be better if there was a fingerprint scanner there.

The left side is empty, the right side has volume and power/lock buttons.

At the top there is a 3.5 mm headset jack.

At the bottom there is a microphone and a MicroUSB port.

CPU

There are several variations of the smartphone, differing in hardware. A model based on MT6737 should be sold in Russia, and in Ukraine you can already buy a version with MT6580. Both chips are equipped with four cores, but are noticeably different. The MT6737 has 1.1GHz A53 cores supporting 64-bit instructions, while the MT6580 has 1.3GHz 32-bit A7 cores. The graphics are also different: the 6737 has a Mali T720 MP2 accelerator, and the 6580 has a Mali 400 MP2. Both solutions are modest and not gaming.

There is no big difference in performance. Both chips demonstrate a minimum acceptable level of performance; the difference between them reaches 10-15 percent, in favor of the MT6737. AnTuTu points, depending on the chip, are 25-30 thousand. This is enough for the Internet, watching videos, correspondence, but not enough for heavy toys. That is, the same tanks will work, but at minimum settings.

Memory

The RAM capacity of Huawei Y3 2017 is 1 GB. This is the minimum for a smartphone in 2017, allowing you to work normally with the device. Multitasking is conditionally possible, but you shouldn’t count on instantly switching between ten open tabs browser. The appetite for software is growing, and what was 1 GB three years ago is now only going smoothly. The built-in memory is only 8 GB, which is not enough, because half is occupied by the OS. But there is a slot for a flash drive, which is separate, and that’s good.

Battery

The smartphone's non-removable battery has a capacity of 2200 mAh, which is generally not much, but tolerable for such hardware. For charging, the kit includes a power supply with an output current of up to 1A. On average, the device will withstand a day of mixed loads; when watching videos or surfing the web, you can count on 6 hours of activity. The indicators are typical for an ultra-low budget vehicle; there is no reason to praise or criticize its autonomy.

Cameras

Main Huawei camera Y3 2017 has a resolution of 8 MP. It is equipped with a flash, supports autofocus, and can record video in HD 720p with 30 FPS. Nothing outstanding, an ordinary camera, so you shouldn’t count on masterpieces. A year ago one could say that it was better than competitors without a big name, but now the Chinese like UMI have begun to put tolerable quality matrices in cheap handsets.

The front camera is 2 MP, without flash and autofocus. It is quite suitable for video calling, but it’s better not to hope for high-quality selfies.

Screen

The display of Huawei Y3 2017 is “hello from 2013”. While some users are already wincing at HD IPS matrices by 5 inches, Huawei decided to equip the device with a five-inch TN panel with a resolution of 854x480 pixels. But now even “Uncle Liao’s cellars” are embarrassed to use this. For example, a couple of months ago the Gretel A7 was released, which at a price of about $40 (though on sale) offered the same hardware and HD IPS. The pixel density of the Huawei Y3 2017 is about 195 PPI, which means that many will notice individual dots.

The viewing angles of the screen, naturally, are far from ideal. But not everything is so sad: with a natural side view there is no pronounced fading or inversion. The colors only become terrible when viewed from above. The sensor does not have an oleophobic layer, supports two touches, but works relatively clearly. What’s also disappointing is the black frames around the perimeter of the matrix on the white version of the smartphone.

Communications

The smartphone is equipped with two separate slots for MicroSIM cards. The set of communications depends on the chipset. The version with MT6580 supports only 2G and 3G, and the modification with MT6737 can also work in LTE networks. Wi-Fi supports 802.11N networks, but only at 2.4 GHz, and Bluetooth is version 4.0. The navigator works with GPS satellites; it picks up about 7 satellites on the street.

Sound

The smartphone is equipped with one speaker located on the back side, near the camera. Its sound is traditionally budget-friendly, clear and moderately loud, but poor in frequency. You shouldn't expect miracles from the device with headphones either, but for an unpretentious user it will do. There is a radio receiver.

operating system

The Huawei Y3 2017 comes with EMUI 4.1 Mini, based on Android 6. The Mini prefix means that some of the features found in flagships are missing, and the OS itself is optimized for budget devices. But overall it’s the same EMUI, with a formal user interface and an improved curtain containing a “timeline” of notifications. The device works relatively quickly, which is facilitated by the low screen resolution.

Peculiarities

The device does not have any unique features. It is possible to single out only led indicator events located above the screen. It reports notifications or low battery. It is also worth recalling once again that the device can be different versions. Modification U00 does not support 4G and is built on the MT6580 chip, all others (L02/L03/L22/L23) are based on MT6737.

The 64-bit versions differ in the set of LTE frequencies, but in open access there are no lists of supported ranges. Therefore, if you need 4G, before purchasing, check whether the required standards are supported. This can be done, for example,

Alternatives to Huawei Y3 2017

The market is simply overcrowded with alternatives to Huawei Y3 2017. Every Chinese company has a smartphone that is almost identical in hardware, but at the same time equipped with HD IPS screen. The most notable rivals are Xiaomi Redmi 4A, Gretel A9, Doogee X5 Max Pro, Oukitel C5. All these smartphones are distinguished by the presence of more attractive 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of ROM. Doogee also stands out with its large battery. And it, like the Gretel A9, has a fingerprint scanner.

Among the more famous brands, it is more difficult to find a better alternative. The LG K5 X220 is almost identical to the Huawei Y3 2017 and features the same screen. Samsung has the Galaxy J3 (2016), which is a little more expensive, but has HD AMOLED screen, 1.5 GB of RAM and better autonomy.

Pros and cons of Huawei Y3 2017

  • separate slot for memory card;
  • 4G support (in version for Russia);
  • led indicator;
  • normal build quality.

Flaws:

  • thickness and weight;
  • the screen is from 2013;
  • only 1 GB of RAM;
  • frames around the screen.

Our review of Huawei Y3 2017

Huawei Y3 2017 is a smartphone that will have a hard time finding its buyer here. The only thing that distinguishes it from numerous cheaper Chinese ones is the level of quality, which is higher. But even Samsung phones, so doubts arise: how many people will buy the hero of the review just because he is a little more reliable than all these Chinese? Moreover, those in the range of up to $100 already offer HD IPS, 2/16 GB of memory, fingerprint scanners, and even a better camera among them is really easy to find.

Therefore, we can state: Huawei Y3 2017 is a smartphone that will suit Huawei fans looking for a cheap device of reasonable quality, but not requiring advanced technologies. It will do the job as a dialer, it will also allow you to surf the Internet or quickly take a photo of something, but nothing more.

Review of budget smartphone Huawei Y5II

Huawei Y3 2017 is a reliable and fast budget smartphone for those who need workhorse for everyday tasks.

Nothing extra

The fact that Huawei Y3 2017 is a strong hard worker, in which everything is aimed at functionality, you understand from the first glance at the smartphone. Monolithic body made of durable plastic, reliable assembly, not a single unnecessary detail - the gadget lies confidently in the hand, creating a feeling of being completely ready for work.

Taking into account the dimensions of 145 x 74 x 9.5 mm and a weight of 180 grams, the smartphone can be safely purchased as the first mobile device for a schoolchild. Due to its ergonomic shape, the device fits very comfortably in the hand, while it is quite compact and lightweight.

Classic screen

The smartphone received the good old 5-inch TN display with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels. Taking into account the pixel density of 195 ppi, this is quite enough for comfortable work with applications, photographs, reading text and web surfing.

At the same time, the gadget stands out from other budget models with decent viewing angles. The sensitive sensor recognizes two touches and does not fade under the bright rays of the sun.

Multitasking

Huawei Y3 2017 is equipped with a 4-core MediaTek MT6737M chipset at 1.1 GHz. The peculiarity of this model is that it is very powerful for budget processor Mali-T720 MP2 graphics accelerator. You can safely entrust a large number of everyday tasks to your smartphone. 1 GB of RAM is enough to simultaneously work with several applications and run games at medium settings.

There is 8 GB of pre-installed memory. At the same time, a clear advantage of the gadget is a separate slot for a memory card, designed for a flash drive with a maximum capacity of 128 GB.

Great solution for photography

Huawei Y3 2017 received two cameras of 8 and 2 MP. The main one is equipped with a bright flash and fast autofocus, which clings to objects in the frame in a split second. The photomodule adequately copes with its tasks in good lighting and is equipped with additional settings, like smile detector, image adjustment and ISO adjustment.

The front camera works well during video calls and when taking portrait photos.

Decent level of autonomy

The non-removable battery of the smartphone has a capacity of 2200 mAh. It may seem to you that this is not so much for a modern device, but do not rush to conclusions. Taking into account practical hardware without bells and whistles and optimal screen parameters, the battery can withstand serious loads throughout the day. And simultaneous web surfing and playing videos will eat up the charge only after 6–7 hours.

Huawei Y3 II is not just budget smartphone, but also the youngest model in the simplest line of mobile devices. This very inexpensive gadget was announced in April 2016. This device is intended for young users or unassuming beginners, and can also be used as an additional phone.

Appearance and ergonomics

The design of the U3 II does not evoke any emotions at all. This is a very simple plastic case with a small silver frame. The back cover is decorated with metal. The manufacturer did not make the case rigid. The thin plastic is quite flimsy, and when pressed, you can feel sagging in some places. At the same time, the smartphone fits comfortably in any hand due to its compact dimensions. The Huawei Y3 II comes in five different colors: sand gold, obsidian black, rose gold, sky blue and arctic white. Dimensions: height - 134 mm, width - 68 mm, thickness - 9.9 mm, weight - 150 g.

Display

Relatively small by modern standards 4.5-inch diagonal Huawei screen Y3 II will seem optimal to many. But the resolution of 854 by 438 pixels is clearly very low. The display does not have an oleophobic coating, so glare from the sun seriously interferes during use. Moreover, TFT matrix can't brag good characteristics. This screen looks like modern smartphone somewhat archaic.

Hardware and performance

The main responsibilities in terms of performance were taken over by the MTK6735M processor with clock frequency 1000 MHz. Such a chip is extremely economical, and scores up to 22,000 points in AnTuTu. This is a rather weak result, but in reality the situation is not so dire. The device functions quickly, and the brakes begin to show themselves only when using three or more applications at the same time or running games with beautiful effects. It is worth noting that this chip is used in the 4G version. But the Y3 II with 3G has an even weaker processor - MediaTek MT6582M. True, its frequency turned out to be already 1300 MHz. Therefore, the difference between the chips in practice is not so significant.

Since this is a purely budget gadget, then internal memory here the minimum is 8 GB. But using the MicroSD slot, you can independently expand the drive up to 32 GB with appropriate cards. Huawei U3 II runs on Android based 5.1 along with EMUI 3.1 Lite interface. The amount of RAM is 1 GB.

Communication and sound

There is a massive grille on the back of the case. But it is just a nice decorative element, and the multimedia speaker itself is quite small. Its sound cannot be called high quality, but at medium and low volumes it makes a good impression. There is one complaint about the earpiece speaker - the noise reduction system is unstable.

Huawei Y3 II in the 4G version supports newfangled LTE networks. But the modification with 3G does not have this option. Both smartphones have WiFi 2.4 GHz 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0.

Camera

At the back of the Huawei device is a 5-megapixel camera with dual flash. Such a module is able to take normal pictures only during the day in clear weather. Even in the sun, strong glare and numerous glares are clearly visible. Thanks to the flash, you can take photos at night, but in this case you will have to put up with big amount artifacts. There is also a front 2-megapixel camera, which is suitable for ordinary video calls.

conclusions

Huawei Y3 II can be useful only for novice users. This smartphone You can easily throw it into your purse or pocket, since it will not take up extra space. Otherwise, this is a very simple device with a nondescript appearance, which is unlikely to appeal to the vast majority of people even for 6,000 rubles.

  • Minimum price.
  • Good performance (in 4G version).
  • LTE support (in 4G version).
