In the Darkest Dungeon, the heroes go crazy, get diseases and phobias, go crazy, undergo treatment, pray and torture themselves... Discovery of the year – Age of Rivals
The discovery of the year was a digital card game (it is not in cardboard), which, according to the rules and mechanics, is very similar to the famous 7 Wonders (but the implementation is not great). I played a lot and for a long time. The only negative (lack of varied art) I noticed only after the review. The gameplay is so good.
Beholder of the Year
Every year we have a special category for games that absolutely need to be celebrated in some special way! The story shown in To the Moon sank into my soul so much that I was ready to put it in first place. Unfortunately, this would not be fair. Still, there is more history, music and atmosphere in it than the game itself, and the tasks that the game offers are quite simple. Therefore, only second (well-deserved!) place!

Each of its landscapes is like a painting, but these paintings sometimes look very frightening, and the plot itself draws in the player, forcing him to empathize with the main character. Darkest Dungeon
The gothic atmosphere of Darkest Dungeon is immediately apparent, but in addition to the gloomy locations and monsters, this turn-based RPG also has elements of a psychological thriller. Your characters will have to fight not only the forces of evil - they will also face stress and paranoia, fears and attacks of irrational panic. Who knows what will be more dangerous - psychological problems or enemies... The heroes of the game will relieve stress in the same way as it happens in the real world: a couple of visits to the tavern, and they are again ready to go on raids through the most dangerous dungeons. The authors promise players roguelike mechanics, so that only those who managed to avoid the permadeath lurking around every corner will complete all 80 hours of gameplay.
Rules of Survival
The gameplay of this game, as close as possible to the famous PUBG, is based on the principles of royal battle, where survival is combined with shooter elements, and the ability to hide sometimes means more than the ability to attack the enemy head-on. To survive on an island full of dangers and competitors, players will have to search for weapons and ammunition, constantly navigate a shrinking map, avoid dangers and be not only careful, but also inventive. The battle royale gaming formula is implemented very well here, so the success and recognition of Rules of Survival is understandable.
C.A.T.S.: Crash Arena Turbo Stars
When street cats build fighting robots in the outskirts of everything that fell into their paws, and then organize battles for the right to become a leader, it looks, at least, unusual. Moreover, you can play street basketball, performing throws and tricks, with the help of cartoonish and humorous characters. Their appearance does not affect their skill, so choose any hero, customize it and challenge the game's AI or your friend in cooperative multiplayer. This streetball may not be realistic, but it is fun, exciting and easy to learn.
Sid Meier's Civilization VI
The inclusion of this game in the list of the best projects of the past year is quite expected. Such large-scale developments are rare on mobile platforms, and even more so if it is a complete and accurate port of a PC game, thoughtful and deep. 4X strategies have always been distinguished by a serious approach to gameplay and a huge amount of content. And this game is no exception. It will require gamers not only to be able to plan and set goals, but also to look for ways to implement them.

We always have something to play. Eee... new asphalt. The drag wave reached Gameloft and it decided to displace such segment leaders as CSR Racing 2. In fact, the developers did not bring anything to the toy that could make it stand out. The same Extreme brought at least some kind of novelty, but here everything is as usual - races with real players, well, at least I hope so, almost endless purchase and pumping of cars. Everything is tied to currency, crystals and boxes. What really pleased me was the beautiful, but not realistic graphics, weather conditions, races not one on one, but four, good music, real licensed cars and styling. It's a shame you can't play offline.
As usual, get ready to enjoy all the delights of a budget game against those who donate. And yes... don't buy the Renault Megane. A terrible car, just like everything that ends with O. And this is perhaps the most beautiful simulator of pressing two buttons in a racing setting. I always thought that controlling two buttons in racing was only possible in drag, but, as it turned out, you can drift like that too. The Racekings developers decided to implement the concept of drifting with simple controls and they succeeded. At the exit, we are offered to participate in paired races, where we need to make a perfect start, tighten the handbrake in time before turning, hold the speed and beautifully enter the straight line, with the pedal sunk to the floor. Actually the whole gameplay. All actions take place with real opponents, so an active Internet connection is required. They won't let you burn rubber offline.
Off the track, we buy licensed cars and upgrade them. Real money rules the game. You can play without investing money, but in this case it will be extremely difficult to cross the finish line first. Well, I mean this against a loaded duelist. The graphics, special effects and soundtrack are up to par, but the races themselves can hardly be called races. It's more of an arcade game in which you need to tap the buttons accurately and quickly, respectively, with a bright and expensive wrapper. But it’s hard to tear yourself away from this musical arcade game. We need to tap on the display in time to overcome obstacles to the beat of the music. But this is only half the trouble. The second button is responsible for inverting the color of the main character. If there is a black wall in front of us, then only by painting it black is it possible to pass through it. We do the same with white barriers. There are also horizontal colored platforms. Here you already need to have time to choose the opposite color. And all this happens at a high tempo with wild dynamics and a very cool soundtrack.
It is unlikely that you will be able to complete the location even on the tenth attempt. At the moment, the developers suggest trying to play in the first two locations. You will have to pay for the remaining four, but the first two are enough to test your dexterity, intelligence and click speed, or rather tap. A truly original music project with very hardcore gameplay. The main device cannot be damaged.
I haven’t played the previous two parts of Hopeless, but I definitely liked the third one. In this arcade we will be offered to make forays on a cart over more than 50 levels, saving our relatives and destroying flying and crawling creatures. I really liked the atmosphere of the project. Funny yellow jelly droplets cutting through the hot spots with an eerie atmosphere are in great contrast. It turned out to be straight up horror. Those who don't have enough games about zombies can pay attention to the fresh pixel sequel in the Dead Ahead universe. Traveling through an infected two-dimensional world, we need to go through locations filled with the walking dead. Everyone loved to fly airplanes as a child, but this game is not about that. In this time killer you need to fly as far as possible through the tunnel, moving quickly in a horizontal plane. The walls are in motion, and we need to stick to the chosen color, which will change on special paths. At first, everything happens quite slowly and it even causes bewilderment, like, what’s wrong with this. Then the pace increases, the airplane flies faster, the walls move more intensely, and corridors appear in distant corners. That's when it becomes interesting to play. The graphics are minimalistic, the music is pleasant. Filling a pause in a queue or a couple of metro stations is just the thing.
This is not the game I expected from Pixelbite at all. The Reckless Racing series is why we love this campaign. If in it we are asked to become a rally master, then in the recently debuted review we need to get away from the police, who will catch you anyway. It's only a matter of time. The controls are simple, the graphics are nice, I like the destruction model, but the lack of a clear campaign is frustrating. Endless games are only good for running for 5-10 minutes maximum and then they quickly get boring. This fate befell Reckless Getaway 2. Yes, it’s beautiful, yes, it’s a paddle, and it’s dynamic. But it gets boring quickly. It's good that at least the project is free.

- Another race in our review that we couldn’t help but mention. Gameloft has released the second part of GT Racing, which is distinguished by amazing graphics and the most realistic physics, as well as the absence of any unnecessary options, such as setting up a profile, choosing a track, a car and other nonsense. Simply launch the game and you are already at the start.
